Born in Barcelona in 1999, Gil Sisquella Oncins completed his Master’s degree in Performance in 2025 at the Musik Akademie Basel under Rainer Schmidt and Barbara Doll. He previously studied at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz with Meesun Hong Coleman, and in Barcelona at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) with Eva Graubin and Vlad Stanculeasa, where he was awarded the Anna Riera Scholarship in 2019. He also studied with Günter Pichler at the Instituto Internacional de Música de Cámara de Madrid as part of the prestigious Escuela Superior Reina Sofía.
He has received guidance from musicians including the Cuarteto Casals, Nicolás Chumachenco, Donald Weilerstein, Heime Müller, Veronika Eberle, Heinz Holliger, Claudio Martínez Mehner, Dénes Várjon, Eckart Runge, Miriam Fried, Robert Levin, Tabea Zimmermann, and Josep Caballé.
Gil Sisquella primarily pursues a career in chamber music, which has led him to perform at venues and festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, Wigmore Hall, L’Auditori de Barcelona, Palau de la Música Catalana, Stadtcasino Basel, Musikdorf Ernen, and the Internationales Musikfestival Wissembourg, among others.
As an orchestral musician, Gil collaborates regularly with Camerata Bern and the Haydn Philharmonie in Eisenstadt, performing alongside artists such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Steven Isserlis, Enrico Onofri, Nicolas Altstaedt, Barnabás Kelemen, Fazil Say, and Julian Rachlin. He has also appeared at renowned festivals, including the Salzburger Festspiele, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, IMS Prussia Cove, Bremen Musikfest, and the Herbstgold Festival in Eisenstadt
