Raul Campos Calzada – Violin

Born in Barcelona in 2002, Raul Campos Calzada began playing the violin and piano at the age of four. Focusing his studies on the violin, he was accepted into the Oriol Martorell Artistic Education Institute, which prepared him for his Bachelor’s degree in Performance with Professor Rudens Turku at the Stella Vorarlberg Privathochschule für Musik in Feldkirch (AT). Additionally, he is pursuing a Master’s degree specializing in Chamber Music Performance with Professors Rainer Schmidt, Anton Kernjak, and Anna Gebert.

During his studies, he won several prizes, including the Premio Galimusic (Audience Award, 2021 and 2022), the Stella Musikpreis Solointerpretation in 2022, which included a live recital for ORF (Austrian national radio), and the Stella Kammermusikpreis in 2024. In 2023/24, Raul was also awarded a grant from the Foundation Friends of Rudens Turku.

He has also received guidance from musicians, including Ana Chumachenco, Andreas Röhn, Yair Kless, Tanja Becker-Bender, Sophie Heinrich, Sebastian Schmidt, Maria Milstein, and Eszter Haffner.

Raul Campos is highly dedicated to chamber music. In 2024, he joined the Atenea Quartet, which has led him to perform at venues and festivals such as the Biennal de Quartet de Cordes de Barcelona, L’Auditori de Barcelona, and Stadtcasino Basel, among others. With the former Metanoia Quartett, he performed the world premiere of the opera Lili Elbe (2023) at Theater St. Gallen. Additionally, with the Mel Bonis Piano Trio, he has performed at venues such as the Markus-Sittikus-Saal in Hohenems, home of the Schubertiade.

He has also shared the stage with musicians such as Jonathan Aner, Tatiana Chernichka, Maria Włoszczowska, Katya Apekisheva, Gerhard Vielhaber, Lena Eckels, Martina Schucan, and Simone Zgraggen.

As an orchestral musician, Raul Campos Calzada has collaborated as a concertmaster with JONC (Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya), Pforte Kammerorchester+, and the contemporary music ensemble PulsArt. Notable solo performances include concerts with the Orchester Liechtenstein-Werdenberg, as well as with the Arts Simfònica Jove. In 2024, he participated in the academy of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
